About Roam Hong Kong
What's on in Hong Kong,
all on one map
Roam Hong Kong pins the territory's concerts, Cantonese opera, festivals, markets and exhibitions on one map, from Central to the New Territories, next to the places worth the trip.
It is built to list every public event in Hong Kong. Right now it lists 228 events from 146 official sources and 203 gigs from 18 venues' own schedules in the next 30 days, big and small. The sources are read twice a week and the site is rebuilt every day.
Who's behind it
Roam Hong Kong was founded by Daniel, who has lived in Canada, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Japan, France, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru and Vietnam, and has travelled to many more countries. These days he splits his time between Tokyo and Montreal, and he also runs Roam Tokyo and Roam Kyoto.
He's a very social person, and wherever he lives or visits he goes looking for the best events and places in town. Roam Hong Kong does that looking for Hong Kong and puts what it finds in one place.
What's on the site
Start with the map. Set your dates and it shows what's on while you're here, alongside the places worth a visit, each pin with how to get there, how long to allow and when to go.
Around the map sit neighbourhood guides for the areas you might stay in.
By the numbers
There's also an events calendar for festivals, concerts, markets and exhibitions.
A sister site
Roam Hong Kong is a sister site of Roam Tokyo, Roam Kyoto, Roam Osaka, Roam Seoul, Roam Taipei, Roam Bangkok, Roam Montréal, Roam Paris, Roam Barcelona, Roam CDMX, Roam Istanbul, Roam Lisboa, Roam London, Roam Madrid, Roam Porto, Roam Rio de Janeiro, Roam Singapore and Roam Toronto, which cover their cities the same way, with a map, neighbourhood guides and an events calendar. If your trip takes in more than one, you'll find the same layout on each.
How the site is made
Roam Hong Kong is a data platform that builds its guides by reading the top travel guides in several languages and keeping what most of them agree on.
Events and gigs are read from the organisers', venues' and official bodies' own pages, and every listing links back to the page it came from. Facts on a place page come from the place's own page or an official body, and a fact that can't be confirmed is left off. Photos are added only when they are Creative Commons photos of the actual place, credited to the photographer.
Hotel recommendations
When you book a hotel through Roam Hong Kong, the site may earn a small commission through Stay22. It doesn't change what's on the map or which areas the guides suggest.
Corrections and questions
If a place has closed, a price is off or a date has changed, email [email protected]. Questions about neighbourhoods, timing or anything the guides don't cover are welcome too.
Venue logos are shown only to identify each venue in its listings, and they belong to the venues. A venue can ask for its logo or its listing to be removed by writing to [email protected].
